Reflections

As we reach the end of 2023 it has me reflecting….. most of this year I have spent on maternity leave and it has been wonderful to enjoy this period and to see the team smashing it and closing 2023 so strong. More to come in 2024!

I must thank @gemmamarshall for leading the business so well and my great team @camstables @sonialeclercq @caroldwyer @emmabennetts @veronicadacosta for delivering excellence to our clients and candidates and making me continually proud of our business.

I have been over 21 years in the world of recruitment, over 13 as a business owner. I am an expert now right and not old? Jokes aside I have learnt many lessons in this time and thought I would share (lucky) seven key ones to close 2023.

SLEEP ON IT

Big decisions, changes they all create emotional reactions. Don’t act but sleep on it. Whilst gut feel is generally right sleeping on it offers you better clarity and a chance for everything to settle.

YOU BUY CHEAP YOU BUY TWICE

In all areas……. the shoes, the laptop, the marketing. Whilst it can be tempting to make what might look like a saving, quality always wins.

KEEP MARKETING

Times are good and bad, global and local economies change and the employment market reflects this but even when times are lean make sure you continue to market. I have seen what happens when you don’t, your customers need to know you're there.

LOOK LOCAL

Engage and support your local community. Attend the networking and business events. Listen to your peers. Buy locally where possible. Community offers returns on many levels and supporting each other feeds the soul.

EMPLOY RADIATORS

Keep away from drains. Energy breeds energy.

KEEP LEARNING

Look for learning and networking opportunities, keeping current, positive and fresh feeds you and gives much needed energy.

YOU CAN DO ANYTHING NOT EVERYTHING

More work needed and to come here but it’s a key one to remember and a development area!

Merry Christmas and here’s to much success and happiness in 2024.
