As 2019 is ending and the new year is approaching people are starting to think about their new year’s resolutions for 2020 or goals for the year ahead.
I myself have been doing something similar as my 30th Birthday is coming up and I’ve decided to put myself out of my comfort zone and try new activities and set myself goals that I wouldn’t usually think of doing such as joining a cooking club, abseiling, do a dog agility course with my dog and just silly fun things like that!
What are the benefits of setting yourself goals?
First and foremost, goals give you a direction and destination, if you feel like you’re stuck in a rut and are just going round in circles with work and your personal life setting yourself goals can give you a clearer focus on what is important to you and gives you control of your future.
Goals provide you with motivation and once you set and achieve them you get a great sense of personal satisfaction and it feels like your moving forward in your life and can give you a sense of purpose.
Personally, turning 30 has pushed me to set myself goals which take me out of my comfort zone. Society has people believing that you should have everything figured out by the time your 30 and if you don’t it can make you feel like you’re doing something wrong but that’s not the case everyone is different and having and setting goals can inspire you to want more and succeed in things that you didn’t think were necessary possible.
